Save the universe, the planet, and humanity.

So after thinking about this in class and yesterday I have developed five ideas that I could take action on....

1) Take my diet a step further and become vegan.
2) Spend more Sundays working with the Burrito Project(preparing and serving burritos to those in need via bicycle).
3) Help out people I know, with great messages and ideas, by creating an online presence for them. (website, blog, etc.)
4) Adopt another dog from the pound and encourage others to do the same rather than buying dogs from pet stores or breeders.
5) Ride my bike to class instead of driving. I had some car troubles today on the way home from work so rather than putting my problem upon someone else I will take action on this tonight.

Photo Safari

For my photo safari assignment I decided to take pictures outdoor as well as indoor. The idea I had was to take outdoor elements and merge them with indoor elements to create unique images that would challenge the viewer in perception. A lot of the images focus on textures and blending outdoor with indoor to create something new.

to tell a story

For the story assignment I have decided to use a visual approach and once again Flash. The style Is used for the story is a very brief slightly random style. I am usually very wordy when I describe things or write papers so I tried to make this the opposite. The words are not what I want the viewer to use for visualizing the story.

There is a pretty good chance I will not be in class tonight due to the fact that I have been vomiting all afternoon but if I am absent I hope everyone will check out my work.

Here it is:

night off

It was pretty nice to have Wednesday off. I had been sick the few days before and Wednesday was the first day that I felt ok. With the night off my band was able to practice a little earlier and after practice we were able to have an impromptu cookout. So I guess I didn't do anything groundbreaking with my night off but I was able to do things I have been wanting to do and not be rushed or have to push back plans. It was a pretty good night.

Times.....

This is coming in a bit late... my internet connection has been killed all day due to this weather but I am now getting a chance to get this online.

Here is what I have developed for my time project. The content of this may not be something that everyone shares a similar view with me but the idea is what I'm trying to convey. I'd love to hear some comments from everyone about the feelings or lack of that are provoked by my projects contents.

emotions and time

Time is something that I could think about all day... the different ways to perceive it and what benefits or limitations it creates. Time affects everything.

What I was most intrigued by is the concept of human perception of time due to the emotional factors of a given span of time. When things are pleasant, fun or exciting the human perception of time is at a more rapid pace. On the flip side when things are unpleasant, boring or negative time is perceived in a very slow rate. With this in mind, I am curious how a viewer would perceive time if a series of images were shown at different time rates and contain content to prompt different emotional responses. To clarify that, my idea is to have a dozen images displayed in a series to the viewer. The negative images would be displayed in a more rapid pace while the positive images will be displayed at a slower rate. Will the viewer still perceive time as slower with negative and faster with positive? If the rate is set to be more random will this affect perception.

This is where I would like to direct my focus for our second project.

behold, the mighty egg

When contemplating the direction to take on the egg assignment, I had several ideas. My initial idea was to create an egg following the WEB 2.0 style that is all over the web today. After attending class on Monday, I realized that this idea doesn't really push my creativity into a new direction. So I went back to the drawing board and started focusing on the textures and surfaces of an egg. I found that when examining the insides of an egg magnified, the eye views something that is not typically apparent. My eye viewed something similar to that of the surface of a planet.

I'll let you examine my creation and decide whether or not you see a basic egg or something more.

I created this with Flash CS3 and PhotoshopCS3.
